Backwater Blues is a new musical comedy with music by Michael T. Tower, book and lyrics by Michael T. Tower and David M. Newcomer. It has a small cast (seven roles for six actors), and is specifically designed for those theaters that don't have the budget to produce large-scale musicals, but still want something of quality to produce. It should also be noted that the musical has a heavily gay theme and gay characters.

Put up the whole show
Someone who viewed my video clips on YouTube asked to have the whole show put up on there, so I got that done today. You can access the clips from here or go directly to my YouTube channel (dmnemaine) and watch them there.
The action takes place in the rural town of Toad Lake somewhere in the USA. Arnie, a resident of the town, has dreams of getting out and making something of himself in the real world. He thinks his chance has come along when a busload of actors from a New York touring company break down as they're passing through. His former high school teacher and mentor, Miss Melnor, encourages him to pursue his dreams and goals. It turns out that the actors are having some trouble. One of them, a problematic young man named Rock, caused a furor with the local sheriff when he escaped wtih some minor items from a convenience store that he didn't pay for. Three of the actors end up in jail, and the sheriff informs the others that unless they pay a stiff fine and Rock turns himself in, the local mechanic won't fix their bus. Later, they are also informed that they have to put on a show for the local Milkweed Festival. In the midst of all these problems, Arnie and the others find love, suffer loss, and begin to realize their dreams.
